We are a long-established law firm based in the heart of Bridgwater, Somerset. Founded in 1987, we have been proudly serving the local community for almost four decades, offering clear, professional and client-focused legal services. Our commitment to providing accessible and expert legal support has earned us a strong reputation across the region.

In the late-00s, we moved to our current home on Castle Street, a location that reflects our dedication to combining tradition with trusted expertise. The building itself is steeped in history. Originally constructed as a row of elegant merchants’ houses, these Grade II listed buildings once served as homes to prominent members of Bridgwater’s trading community. Their Georgian architecture still stands proudly today, preserving the character and charm of a bygone era. The buildings are made of red and yellow Flemish-bond brick, with moulded stone coping to the parapet, and follow very similar lines. They form an important group, unusual for their scale and ambition outside of London.

From the early 20th century, the building took on a new purpose. In 1920, it was converted into the Mary Stanley Maternity Hospital and remained as such until 1990, caring for local residents for over 70 years. It played a vital role in the community’s health and wellbeing, offering care and support during both peaceful and challenging times, including the post-war years.

Notably, the district nurses’ home, originally established in 1902 at Number 2 King Square to commemorate Queen Victoria, was relocated to Castle Street in 1926. From there, nurses lived and worked as part of Bridgwater’s public health efforts. This rich history of service and care forms an inspiring backdrop to our own commitment to helping people through some of life’s most difficult and important events.

Today, Alletsons continues that legacy of service from this historically significant site. We are proud to be part of Bridgwater’s continuing story and to uphold the building’s tradition of supporting the community.
